Incorporated in 1740, Wilmington has much to offer
it’s more than 100,000 residents. With popular beach
destinations, protected waterways and a historic downtown,
this region of the Cape Fear coast provides big city living
in a small, coastal town atmosphere. Wilmington has an
international airport, top hospitals and healthcare and is
home to the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
Opportunities are plentiful for entertainment with annual
festivals including the North Carolina Jazz Festival and the
Azalea Festival; outdoor recreation including boating, fishing,
surfing and kayaking; and arts and historical culture with
the Thalian Hall Center for Performing Arts, Screen Gems
Studios, Kenan Auditorium on the campus of UNCW, the
